The Highlights
* Mullah Osmani is the highest-ranking Taliban leader ever killed by US forces! He is the only member of the 10-man Taliban leadership council to be taken out thus far.
* He was the number 4 leader of the Taliban and 1 of 3 top associates of fugitive Taliban leader Mullah Omar. The other 2 being Mullah Obaidullah and Mullah Dadullah.
* He was the chief of the Taliban's military operations. His death is a MAJOR BLOW to the Taliban!
He was killed in an airstrike in Helmand, Afghanistan, along with 2 of his deputies. (The South)
* He is a top aide to Taliban leader Mullah Omar, and friends with Al Qaeda leaders Osama Bin Laden and Ayman Al-Zawahiri. He is also close to top Afghan terror leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. (Too bad we didn't capture him alive...boy, the info we could have gotten out of him!!)
* At one time, he was in charge of Taliban leader Mullah Omar's personal security. Also, he dealt with the financies of the group.
This is a marvelous day for US and ally forces in Afghanistan! Congrats!!!!
It is rumored that Mullah Dadullah and Mullah Obaidullah also make frequent trips to southern Agghanistan from Pakistan. Hopefully, they're next!!!!!
